Hot Toddy.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend enjoying this crazy weather (thanks La Nina or whatever meteorological phenomena is causing it).  Somehow, despite the warm temps and my best intentions,  I came down with a pretty gross chest cold, which is kind of ironic since Brent and I spent a ridiculous amount of hours (coughtwelvecough) parked on the couch watching the entire first season of Homeland.

(Normally I stay well away from anything labeled 'psychological thriller' due to a pretty pathetic fear of the dark but the story line of this show is so compelling. Or maybe I just like it because people tell me I look like Claire Danes. Which I'm still not sure is a compliment...)

Go Netflix it or rent it (or download it illegally - no judgement). It's addicting. You've been warned.

Annnyway, somehow in all that tv watching, I now have this cold to contend with. I decided to try and self remedy.

'Hot Toddy' was the top Google recommendation for cough/sore throat. Medicinal drinking?? I think so.

There are a ton of different kinds of whiskey and I know nothing about any of them. I picked Bulleit (which is technically bourbon whiskey?) because my brother got me hooked on it over Christmas with this drink (very similar to the toddy).

*warm honey and fresh squeezed lemon juice on low heat

*remove from heat, stir in whiskey

*pour the whole thing into a hot cup of tea

*drink and repeat until you feel better

...hopefully soon!
