On this weekend last year I was visiting Paris for the very first time.
After four days of working frantically at a trade show in Frankfurt, I hopped the train through the French countryside for a weekend by myself. I had no agenda. I walked everywhere strolling down back streets, stopping at cafes for wine or coffee. I brunched in Montemarte.
I only went to one museum.
The weather was perfect for fall and I promptly fell in love with every cliche that embodies the city of light and declared Hausmann a genius in my mind. I don't know if I have ever been so enamored with a single place.
I also fell head over heels in love with Parisian crepes and unabashedly ate them every chance I could. With warm Nutella oozing out the side, what is there not to love?? This spring I'm going back and I simply can't wait. Until then, I will make these crepes whenever I have a craving for Pah-ree.
Classic Crepe Recipe:
- Mix 1 cup flour with two eggs
- Slowly add 1/2 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of water
- Then add two tablespoons of melted, unsalted butter and 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- Mix well
- Oil or butter a frying pan on medium high heat
- Pour 1/3 cup of the batter mix on to the pan and let it spread out
- Once one side is crispy and turning brown, flip over
- When both sides are done, spread Nutella on half
- Add bananas, strawberries or sugar
- Fold and cut down the middle
- Close your eyes and enjoy
Ahhhhh Paris in spring will be amazeballs. In the meantime you must make me some of these
